Help Lydia Honor Her Father Howard's Legacy
Donation protected
One of my best friends, Lydia Glass, suddenly and unexpectedly lost her father, Howard, last week.
He was found in his car by police after finishing a training run in Juno Beach in preparation for Ironman Cozumel. If you knew Lydia's Dad, you knew he was incredibly healthy and motivated for an 83-year-old, which makes the situation even more devastating.
Howard was an avid and admired Ironman triathlete who was introduced to triathlons at age 69 when he did his first sprint distance. Within 3 years, he was a 2-time Kona Ironman World Champion. He finished over 40+ Ironman events throughout the US and overseas after he turned 70 years old.
Howard truly lived life on his own terms, and lived it fully. He was admired for his determination, infectious laugh, and eternal optimism. He inspired and mentored many athletes, and lived by the adage, "Just Do It."
Most of us expected Howard to live to 100 and beyond, including, most likely, himself. Unfortunately, both he and his family were unprepared for his early departure, which means a lot of unexpected costs have materialized.
Lydia, Foster, and Ella had to quickly take off to Florida to take care of everything from funeral expenses, probate lawyer fees, cleaning/painting/clearing the estate, and preparing for a celebration of life event. This has meant time off work for both Lydia and Foster, as well as diving into all the time consuming, frustrating, and costly end-of-life preparations and filings.
Because of all of these unexpected costs falling on the shoulders of a young family, we (myself and some of the rest of her tribe) humbly ask for help to support them during this painful process, so that they don't have to go into debt to give her Dad the send off he deserves. We also don't want Lydia to have to have financial worries on top of moving through the grieving process. Any amount that you could give towards supporting Lydia is immensely appreciated.
