Help Libby beat liver cancer!
Donation protected
Dear friends,
My name is Nick Anderson. I'm a friend of Libby's family & have a child in the same class as Libby at school. I've set this fundraiser up to help Libby's family in a time of need.
“A message from Libby’s parents, Michael and Miranda Cullingford: Wow. Thank you! We are overwhelmed by the incredible response, it’s exceeded anything we could have anticipated. Seeing the amount of love for Libby brought literal tears to our eyes. Thanks to your generosity, we will travel to Sydney with one less thing to worry about. The additional donations are an amazing blessing as we support Libby’s ongoing recovery & the management of the long-term side effects from her treatment.”
Sadly, just before Easter, Libby was diagnosed with liver cancer. Unfortunately, the cancer is quite extensive and is not currently operable. The road to recovery will undoubtedly be challenging, but with your support, we can join forces with Libby and give her the best possible chance of beating this disease.
The Battle Begins:
On 5th April, Libby's life took an unimaginable turn when she was diagnosed with liver cancer. Initially, she had been feeling low in energy after celebrating her 5th birthday, and it appeared to be just a typical childhood virus. However, in the week leading up to Easter her condition worsened dramatically, which we now understand was probably due to the tumour rupturing. She was immediately admitted to Perth Children's Hospital and began what will initially be a six-month course of chemotherapy. Like everyone in Libby's community, our hearts shattered when we heard the news. In the past 6 weeks Libby has endured more than most of us can imagine but her resilience has been an inspiration to us, and now it's our turn to rally behind her.
Transplant Surgery in Sydney:
Given the extent of Libby's cancer, she requires a full liver transplant. Unfortunately, this complex surgery cannot be performed in Western Australia. Libby's family has been advised that she must travel to Sydney immediately to continue her treatment and begin preparations for a transplant with the expert team at Westmead. It is anticipated that Libby's treatment and subsequent recovery will require her to be in Sydney for at least 4 months before she can return to Perth. Libby's family are grateful to be in such expert hands but this also comes with immense emotional and financial strain. Her mum has taken indefinite leave from work to provide the care Libby needs. Relocating a family of 4 for an extended period away from their usual support network, adds an overwhelming burden during what is already an immensely difficult time.
Our Goal:
We have established this GoFundMe campaign to rally support behind Libby and her family as they prepare to relocate. Our goal is to reduce the associated financial burden, allowing them to focus solely on Libby's treatment and recovery. Together, we can lighten the financial load slightly for Libby's family and give them one less thing to worry about as they travel over for this treatment.
All funds raised will be used to support Libby and her family with medical, transport, accommodation and living expenses while she undergoes treatment and through her ongoing recovery. Her family has asked that any surplus funds are donated to KCSG (Kids Cancer Support Group - https://www.kcsg.org.au/fast-facts). Libby's family are hugely appreciative of the support they received from KCSG during her first few weeks in hospital and have a strong desire to give back, ensuring other families facing cancer can also benefit from the same support.
How You Can Make a Difference:
Every contribution makes an impact. By donating to Libby's campaign, you can be part of her story, supporting her fight against cancer and offering hope to her family during this challenging time. Your generosity will not only ease their financial burden but will also provide them with the encouragement of knowing they have a community standing alongside them as they embark on this unfamiliar journey to a new city.
We express our deepest gratitude for any support you can provide to Libby and her family. Let us come together as a community and show Libby how much she is loved. Please make sure you add some words of support on the page so we can read them to Libby! If you're someone who prays, please say a prayer for Libby as well. Together we can make a lasting impact in the life of this courageous little girl.
Thank you for your love, kindness and generosity.
