Help Katia Fight for Her Life and Rebuild Her Family’s Home

Katia Rudolph has always been the one giving her heart to others — as a mother to Zachary (11) and Adriana (9), a stepmother to Gillian (17), a Child Advocate for foster children in Harford County, and an addiction therapist. She has lifted countless people up in their times of need. Today, she is the one who needs us to lift her.

In October 2024, Katia felt a lump in her breast. Though her fears were initially dismissed, she trusted her instincts and kept fighting for answers. By May 2025, her worst fears were confirmed: breast cancer. Katia underwent a double mastectomy and bravely began chemotherapy. But just as she was beginning this battle, tragedy struck again.

One night, too weak and breathless to finish cooking dinner, Katia laid down to rest. Minutes later, her son Zach shouted “Fire! Fire!” A pan had ignited, and in moments, their kitchen was engulfed in flames. Thanks to Zach’s quick action, the family escaped unharmed — but their home was left in ruins. Along with the damage came the heartbreak of lost memories, items that can never be replaced.

Now, as their house undergoes repairs, the Rudolphs are staying in a rental, clinging to one another and leaning on the kindness of friends. But Katia’s fight has grown even harder. After her very first chemotherapy session, she suffered a serious reaction and has been hospitalized at Hopkins for over 10 days. Doctors are still uncertain when she will be able to return home. She is very weak.

This family has endured fear, loss, and unimaginable challenges all at once. Katia is doing everything she can to stay strong for her children and her husband, but the emotional and financial burden is overwhelming.
