Help Kamal Escape Gaza to Find His Son in Greece

Hello, my name is Walid Ech Chafnaje Bendourou, and I live in Spain. I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of a dear friend of mine, Kamal Khalil Al Shafee, a 47-year-old man from Gaza who I met through Twitter. I’ve been supporting him personally with donations for months, and after hearing more of his story, I felt it was my duty to do something more impactful — to help him reach safety and reunite with his lost son.

Kamal’s home was destroyed in the war on Gaza. He lost several members of his family — including his children, his brother, and nephews. His grandson is in urgent need of regular dialysis, and Kamal himself is trapped in one of the harshest humanitarian crises on Earth. On top of this suffering, Kamal’s son, Saif Kamal Al Shafee, went missing over a year ago while in Greece. Kamal’s deepest wish is to leave Gaza, travel to Greece, and search for his son — and eventually bring his remaining family to safety.

Where Will Your Donations Go?

The total amount Kamal needs to begin this journey is $7,000, which covers:

$3,000: Coordination and border crossing from Gaza to Egypt

$2,000: Visa fees and airfare from Egypt to Greece

$2,000: Basic living costs for his initial stay in Greece

Kamal will be receiving the funds directly via a bank transfer to his account in Bank of Palestine to avoid local office fees and heavy deductions that could reach up to $2,000. This method ensures your support goes exactly where it’s needed.

Once he finds his son in Greece, Kamal plans to bring his family there as well to rebuild what war has taken from them.

This is a newly created GoFundMe account. My previous campaign was delayed due to issues with GoFundMe’s review system, and I didn’t want to lose time. Everything is now in perfect order with this new account, and this is the official and active campaign moving forward.
