Help Jory get a new liver

Jory’s husband Steve’s story:
My sisters-in-law story is listed below, and it outlines the timeline of my wife’s
liver disease. I just wanted to take a quick moment to share with you Jory’s and I’s challenges. Jory and I just celebrated 3 years of marriage in August. I would have never guessed that the vibrant, beautiful woman that I married would be diagnosed to end-stage liver failure. I have witnessed my wife’s challenges and I have almost lost her twice. This disease has impacted every aspect of our lives and my wife continues to move forward and progress daily. I am so proud of her. On a side note, I would like to add that the money that we have set for a goal for thee Go Fund Me account, covers only Jory’s current medical bills. We still have on-going medical needs for my wife (in fact she is not in physical therapy again until January, due to insurance coverage) and we will continue to pray about those needs. Of course, our greatest challenge will be when a liver transplant occurs.
Thank you everyone for your prayers.

Jory’s sisters Kelsey’s story:
This is my Sissy Jory. My biggest supporter, my best cheerleader, my rock.
As most of you know Jory has had quite the year being in and out of the hospital
for her stage 4 liver failure. Let’s take it back to October 2019 The moment I
walked into the hospital and realized how bad this really was and how hard it was for my sister to navigate through the ever changing new diagnosis, new procedures and new teams of doctors. Seeing someone I love and care about in so much pain completely broke my heart and right then and there was when I decided as the little sister I am, that I was not going anywhere without real answers. At first the doctors really did not know what was going on and ran multiple tests with no real answers.
It wasn’t until her health got so bad and to be honest she almost died before they
finally figured it out, but with the findings of liver failure there was also a list of
other things going on that really had nothing to do with the liver failure itself and that’s why it took so long for them to get this diagnosis figured out. In November Jory’s liver was about to give out witch then caused her body to shut down she had multiple scary falls in the hospital and then came the new diagnosis of neuropathy. That, in and of itself is awful but to add liver failure on top, well her body was working full overtime to make sure she lived. As you guys know Jory is currently in wheelchair because of this awful disease, and as much as it breaks my heart to see her like that, but all I can think about is how amazingly strong my sister really is. In December Jory was discharged from the hospital after a very scary stay and placed into Salem transitional care, this is a rehab centered geared towards helping patients recover from surgeries or other diagnoses to get them strong and healthy enough to return home. That was the main goal, this facility was great but also had many obstacles along the way. With her stay there other things started to pop up and our need and want to get her home grew more provident, but we also needed them to help her get heathy enough so we could get her up to OHSU to see her new liver specialist. That was a very hard few months but after seeing her new liver doctor in March of this year, we are now more aware of her diagnosis plus what we as a family needed to do to get her to the transplant list. Jory needs a new liver, hers is literally on its last leg and we are honestly not sure how long it’s going to last, there is no other treatments or things that she can do to get her liver healthy again. Jory was is discharged from Salem transitional care at the end of February, but being home also came more obstacles, covid hit and quarantine, after seeing my sister pretty much every day for the last five months, it was very hard on me not to be able to see her, but we were so worried about what would happen if she got it, Thank God she hasn’t got it. Jory is home now and working very hard on physical therapy as most of you know and she is making great progress, one of her main goals with her liver specialist is that he wants to see is her walking, this is a very hard task but she is getting strong and stronger every day, it took us all as a family working together and communicating to make sure that Jory was getting the best care that she needs. So far so good but the list of doctors’ appointments and procedures that she needs now and continues to need in the next few years is long. With Jory being disabled it has forced her to quit her job and Steve is the sole income, but with Insurance being so finicky and not wanting to cover things like they should have, until now. Steve must stay home more to help get Jory to and from appointments and just be home for her. So, the bills are adding up and will continue to be coming. A liver transplant is scary in of itself, the process takes a lot time to coordinate and figure out and a lot of money that the average people do not have on hand. So, to add Financial burden on top of being so sick, that is hard on anyone. Nobody likes to ask for help but right now it takes a village, and we need all the help we can get. Jory and Steve both have been through so much and continue to go through so much as her diagnosis comes further along, but the one thing we can do as friends and family is to give the support they need, and to help out when we can!! I know you all have done so much for us already, but our number one goal is to get Jory to the list to get a new liver and not have anything blocking her from getting it. so not only does her health need to be in order but their finances need to be in order as well and that is just the reality of it. We hate to ask for help but really do need it so please help us get Jory to the list so she can get a new liver!!! Thank you all for your prayers and kind words along the way.
