Help Joe’s Heart Transplant Recovery Journey

Donazione protetta
Hello all, thank you for taking the time to read about such a wonderful person, Mr. Joe Lewis. I’m his neighbor and friend, Brittany, & I’m raising money for his heart transplant. Joe has had a pacemaker for about 7 years now. He was on disability, but it’s been cut off and we’re working to reinstate it. When it is, if you aren’t familiar with the payments, it’s not really enough to survive on, let alone have any type of you life changes or medical emergency surgery. And he’s now behind on all his bills and we’re working towards doing all we can to keep his accounts in good standing while dealing with our own current financial situations and no extra money. We are currently most needing to raise $3500 for his outpatient hospital stay- that is his out-of-pocket expense. He will need some structural home adjustments once he’s home to get around easier and 24/7 meals and care, which the care is not covered by insurance somehow.
There’s no grants or help for his outpatient stay or his bills. They do not care that he is in the hospital for a heart transplant. There’s nothing set up to help him. We have a list of items and modifications he’ll need. A wheelchair, a ramp built, shower chair, heater, ac, his water heater wiring is fried and a definite fire hazard- he needs a water heater, a plumber to install it, rent, I’d like to get some money to get his bills up-to-date- his car insurance, power bill, phone, internet turn it back on, would like to shoot for getting him through 6-12 months worry/stress free. Joe has been exceeding his medical professional’s advice, while patiently waiting for a solution. So taking into consideration how positive he is and not ready to accept defeat, along with how overly strict he’s taken his medical teams’ advice, prior to the hospital stay, I believe he will be a model heart transplant patient! He wants to get back to living, he just isn’t ready to give up. Ive known Joe for 15 years. For all 15 of them, he’s been the best neighbor you could ever ask for. And I mean that. He’s always looking out for his fellow neighbors, all across this small community. He will help in any way possible. If he has it, he’ll give it to you, loan it to you, haul it for you, or tell you how to fix it. He’s got SO much knowledge when it comes to working on vehicles, mowers, tractors, 4x4s, dogs, and how to navigate around the entire state of Florida, Georgia, and all the way up to Virginia. He’s in his 60s and been around the block a few times. Hopefully we can get some donations so he can worry about healing and working towards self sufficiency. Thank you!
