Help Joan with her daughter’s medical bills in Thailand
Donazione protetta
Good day, everyone.
My name is May, and I'm helping my friend Joan Ipanag, who is currently working as a teacher in Thailand, raise funds for her daughter's medical bills. I'm organising a fundraiser to support her in this challenging time. Any contribution, no matter how small, would make a significant difference and be greatly appreciated. Your generosity will not only help cover the medical expenses but also provide emotional support to Joan and her family during this difficult period.
Please help me share this campaign to help our fellow "kababayan" overcome this challenging time. Together, we can show that we stand by each other in times of need. Let’s come together as a community to uplift Joan and her family, ensuring they feel the love and support that surrounds them.
How It Started
In the Philippines, at the age of 12, Jalyn was diagnosed with tuberculosis — a serious condition caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. She has already finished her 6-month treatment regimen.
Just this year, her mum, Joan, decided to take Jalyn with her to Thailand and continue her studies there.
Jalyn, now 13, was excited about the new adventure and the opportunity to experience a different culture while pursuing her education. With her mother by her side, she felt ready to embrace the challenges ahead and make new friends in this vibrant country.
27 May — Jalyn began to feel unwell. She had a fever, severe headaches, and vomiting, prompting Joan to take her to the hospital, where she was advised to be admitted as the doctor discovered that Jalyn's tuberculosis had progressed and become more complicated. The bacteria had already spread to her brain. Jalyn stayed in the ICU for two days at Banphaeo General Hospital.
29 May — Jalyn came out of ICU.
While Jalyn was left recuperating in the hospital, Joan still had to go to work, which is 30 minutes away from the hospital, to be able to sustain their everyday needs and Jalyn's medical bills.
1 June — Jalyn was experiencing a severe stomachache and was moved again to the ICU, and scans showed two holes in her intestines, and she underwent urgent surgery.
4 June — Jalyn underwent a second surgery, but the surgeon discovered that Jalyn had multiple complications. The surgeon discovered that there were not only one but six additional holes in Jalyn's intestines. Due to the severity of the surgery and Jalyn having just had it, the surgeon referred them to King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok, which is almost 2 hours away from where Joan lives.
6 June — Jalyn is scheduled for her third surgery later today.
Joan understandably feels anxious at the moment while working but is doing her best to support Jalyn, ensuring that she feels comforted and reassured as they prepare for this critical operation.
With mounting costs from both hospitals and the uncertainty of their financial situation due to lost wages and no medical insurance during this journey, Joan is exploring every option available to ease the burden. While her daughter's recovery is her top priority, Joan acknowledges the inevitable challenge of addressing medical bills.
That is why I am reaching out to everyone, especially to our Filipino community, to help Joan alleviate some of the financial strain. She remains hopeful that with support from friends, family, and the community, they will navigate this difficult period together.
Along with financial help, I, along with my friend Joan, who remained strong despite the challenges, am asking for your prayers, for I know how powerful prayer is.
If you're unable to donate, please consider sharing this page with your friends, family, and community. Every bit of help makes a huge difference.
Your support, whether through donations or kind words, will make a significant difference in her daughter's recovery journey. Together, we can create a strong network of support that not only aids in recovery but also fosters hope and resilience within our community. Let's keep spreading positivity and kindness, as every little gesture counts, and let 's continue to uplift one another in love and solidarity.
Have a wonderful day, everyone. Stay safe, and God bless.
