February 20, 2026, was supposed to be a day spent celebrating Jim Victory’s 56th birthday. Instead, it became the beginning of a medical journey that would change life for Jim and our family in ways we never expected.
What started as a normal day quickly turned into a life-threatening medical emergency when Jim suffered a perforated bowel—a hole in his colon that required emergency surgery to save his life.
For more than 40 years, Jim has worked in construction and drywall. He’s spent his entire adult life doing physically demanding work to provide for his family. If you know Jim, you know he is hardworking, stubborn in the best way, quick with a joke, and not someone who likes asking for help.
Jim and his wife, Ann, became parents at just 19 years old. While many people their age were still figuring out their future, they were already raising a family. Jim went straight from being a kid himself to being a provider, and he has spent his life working tirelessly to support the people he loves.
Today, Jim and Ann are proud parents of three children and grandparents to two grandchildren who bring them endless joy. Some of Jim’s favorite days are spent at home surrounded by family—Sunday cookouts, card games, four-wheeler rides, fishing trips, morel mushroom hunting, and watching his grandchildren grow up. Family has always been the center of his world.
After his emergency surgery, Jim faced a long and difficult road. His intestines temporarily stopped functioning properly, leaving him unable to eat for nearly two weeks while doctors worked to help his body recover. He spent 22 days in the hospital fighting complications and working toward healing.
Just when it seemed he was turning a corner, another serious complication occurred. His surgical incision reopened, requiring a second surgery and extending an already difficult recovery.
Despite every setback, Jim kept pushing forward with the same determination that has carried him through life.
Now, after months of recovery, he is finally healthy enough to undergo the next major step in his journey: surgery to reverse his ostomy and restore normal bowel function.
While this surgery represents hope and progress, it also means another lengthy recovery. Doctors expect approximately six months before Jim will be able to return to the physically demanding work that has supported his family for decades.
Because Jim has been self-employed for most of his life, time away from work means no paycheck. While medical assistance programs have helped with many of the hospital expenses, the everyday bills continue. Mortgage payments, utilities, vehicle repairs, insurance, groceries, and other household expenses don’t stop while recovery continues.
This fundraiser is being created to help ease the financial strain of lost income and everyday living expenses while Jim focuses on what matters most: healing and getting back to the family he loves.
If you’ve ever worked alongside Jim, shared a laugh with him, spent time with the Victory family, or simply want to help a hardworking husband, father, and grandfather through a difficult season, we would be deeply grateful for your support.
No donation is too small. If you’re unable to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser with others would mean just as much.
Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, kindness, and support. Our family has been humbled by the love we’ve received, and we look forward to the day when Jim is healthy enough to get back to doing what he loves most—spending time with his family.
With gratitude,
The Victory Family
