Help Jess Get to Ohio for Surgery

My name is Olivia! Jess is my best friend.

 

Jess has something called colonic inertia. Which is where food can not pass through because her large intestine doesn’t move. So if she eats, she gets very sick.

 

She has 2 feeding tubes right now, and a port in her chest for Iv fluids, so she can get the nutrition she needs. Over the past two years, she’s had many hospital stays, probably anywhere from 20-30 and multiple ER visits. The cost is extensive for these and unfortunately insurance just doesn’t cover it all.

 

It has gotten so bad that surgery is her only option.

So on October 19th, her and her mom have to fly to Cleveland, Ohio, so she can get surgery on October 22nd to remove her colon. The reason they are traveling to Cleveland, is because not only do they have some of the best doctors there for this, but they also invented the test that diagnosed her officially. It took years of her being sick to be able to get the official diagnosis from them. No other hospital could figure out what was wrong. Her doctors say they are fairly confident this surgery will give her the ability to eat back and greatly improve her life. She will finally be able to get the tubes out and be free from them.

 

As you can imagine, traveling isn’t cheap. Not only will the hotel for her mom, plus flights there and back be a huge financial burden, but the copays and other out of pocket expenses are very significant. After many hospital stays and emergency room visits, the financial aspect of it is a lot on Jess and her family.

 

I’m hoping I can help her raise some money to relieve some of the stress on her so she can focus on preparing for surgery and recovery afterwards, instead of worrying about the cost of it all.
