Help Jeff Lyon Beat Cancer
Anyone who knows Jeff - as a friend, from his time working at San Francisco restaurants like Rose Pistola and Range, or through his own bar, Third Rail, that he built from the ground up - will tell you he’s one of the kindest, most generous people you could ever meet. Always ready for a great conversation with a smile on his face, Jeff’s warmth makes you feel like you belong exactly where you are at that moment, and that you’re with a friend, even if you met just a few moments before.
And ask him to talk about his wife Mollie and young daughter Eleanor, and the sparkle in his eye lets you know these are the two most important people in the world to him, and that he’d do anything for them.
But now, Jeff needs us to help him.
In November of 2020, Jeff started experiencing pain in his lower back. At first, it seemed run of the mill - just something that happens with age, work and chasing after a young child. An examination showed he had a compression fracture in his vertebrae, which seemed somewhat easily treatable. But the pain continued to increase, leaving Jeff unable to walk. More tests ensued - an X-Ray, a MRI, bloodwork - and showed the fracture was actually caused by tumors in his spine.
Jeff was admitted to the hospital, where a battery of further examinations revealed he has Stage IV Metastatic Melanoma, and that it had already been spreading much further and faster than anticipated - to his liver, his lungs, and his brain.
Jeff is now at the very beginning of at least two years of treatment - combinations of immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and radiation, to fight the cancer throughout his body. And as you can imagine, treatment is expensive, and Jeff and his family can use all of the help and support they can get.
Your kindness and generosity all go directly to Jeff, Mollie and Eleanor - to help offset ever-mounting medical bills, as well as childcare while Jeff is unable to work and Mollie balances time at the hospital, taking care of their home, and Eleanor’s care and education.
Thank you for anything you can give, from Jeff, Mollie and Eleanor, as well as from their family and friends who care for them so much.
P.S. Please share with any and all friends on FB or IG!
