Support Needed After Devastating Family-Business Fire

On June 4th, 2025, my dad’s autobody shop, HO Automotive, was completely destroyed in a sudden fire. It wasn’t just a business—it was his dream, his legacy, and a second home for so many of us.

My dad, Huberto, came to this country when he was just 20 years old, hoping for a better future for himself and his future kids. With nothing but determination and dreams, he spent the last 40 years building HO Automotive from the ground up. He was at his Dyke Lane location for 23 years. His shop helped support not only our family, but others too—his brothers, José and Sergio, who helped contribute to the shop’s growth with their time, skills, and hard work.

One of my dad’s most loyal employees, Jairo, was injured during the fire. He now faces hardships, both physically and financially. Any contributions would be extremely helpful in relieving the stress of current financial struggles and supporting him in his time of healing.

And my sister, Darlin, worked at the shop for 10 years, dedicating herself to keeping the business strong. She now faces job insecurity after giving a decade of her life to something that was more than just work—it was family.

The most heartbreaking part is that my dad was finally preparing for retirement. My dad is the most hardworking man that I know—he’s spent decades working long, physically demanding days without a single complaint. After a lifetime of showing up for us and others, he’s now left with no income, no shop, and deep uncertainty about what comes next. As his daughter, I feel like it’s only right to share his story with you all and try my best to alleviate some of his worries.

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for help. Any donations will go toward helping my dad, Darlin, Jairo, José, and Sergio through this incredibly difficult time—covering basic needs, medical care, and if possible, helping plant the seeds for a new beginning.

Mi papá, Huberto, llegó a este país con solo 20 años, con la esperanza de construir un futuro mejor para él y sus futuros hijos. Lo más desgarrador de todo es que mi papá estaba por fin preparándose para jubilarse. Es el hombre más trabajador que conozco—ha pasado décadas haciendo trabajos físicos y exigentes sin quejarse ni una sola vez. Después de toda una vida de esfuerzo por nosotros y por los demás, ahora se encuentra sin ingresos, sin taller, y con mucha incertidumbre sobre lo que viene.
