Our Mission:
More Than Just Music, we are Harlow Rock School (charity name Friends of Rock
School, number 1117575), a volunteer-run music charity in Harlow. Our mission is
to support 11-18 year olds in self-expression, performance, social skills, and
behind-the-scenes tech. We provide a free, safe, and supportive environment for
personal growth.
The Magic of 'Rock the Park' each year:
We host 'Rock the Park' in Harlow Town Park, giving our young people and local
musicians a platform, think Glastonbury, but on a smaller scale. Following the loss
of the bandstand in 2025, we are working hard to make 2026 our best. This is a full
two-day event, providing an entire weekend of live music for the Harlow
community.
'Rock the Park' has always been a celebration of all local talent. Last year, our
stage was shared by a youth musical theatre group (ages 6–11), a senior choir,
and several independent bands. All these performers, along with our young
members, gave their time and talent for free.
A Community Partnership:
We are grateful for the support of Harlow Council, who provide the venue and carry
out essential park preparation, such as cutting the grass and ensuring the park
toilets are open and clean for our guests. While the council provides this vital
infrastructure and is rebuilding the stage, the council has never contributed
financially to the event. Harlow Rock School covers all costs relating to this event.
Why We Are Raising £14,000:
To bring the music back for this two-day relaunch in July, we need to raise
approximately £14,000 to cover essential operational costs. Because all our
performers and staff are unpaid volunteers, 100% of the funds raised go directly
toward the event:
• Professional PA & Sound Hire: Providing a high-quality stage for all our
performers.
• Security & First Aid Cover: Keeping our community safe throughout the entire
weekend.
• Festival Infrastructure: Setting up the bar, food, and drink facilities.
• Advertising & Licensing: Ensuring we reach as many people as possible to
support our performers.
The Ticking Clock:
The council has given us a date in July, which means we must have our funding in
place by the end of March. The clock is ticking. Every donation helps us towards
our goal and ensures we can put the ‘Rock’ back in Harlow Town Park where it
belongs!
Please donate today and share this page with your friends and family.
Thank you!
