My husband Grant and I have been battling with infertility. We met later in life when I was about to turn 38, after I had spent decades searching for the right partner. When Grant and I met, we quickly realized we were meant to be together—we are truly best friends. Grant works for the state of Florida, and I work in special education. We are both very hard working, but unfortunately, neither of our jobs offers fertility coverage.
We have tried everything we can: I have applied at Starbucks and for every grant available to help us with the massive cost of IVF. We were told that due to my low AMH, advanced age, and one blocked fallopian tube, our only chance at starting a family is IVF. As an educator, I have always wanted to be a mom, and it has been a sad and difficult journey trying to become parents. We have tried medicated, monitored cycles with our fertility clinic and IUI, but IVF is our best chance of starting our family. We will need to take out a significant loan to cover my IVF cycle, PGT testing, frozen embryo transfer, and a donor egg cycle.
We are very scared to go into debt with the chance of still not having a baby in the end, but since we know we are meant to be parents, we decided we have to give IVF a try. This money is just enough to cover one round and a few transfers, along with the donor eggs that will give us the best chance of starting our family. We felt defeated today when we learned that it would be an additional cost for fresh donor eggs, knowing that frozen gives us a much lower chance of creating embryos. We hate to be starting a GoFundMe, but any little bit will help. Your support would mean the world to us as we try to build our family.
