Help Gina and Gordon Rebuild After a Devastating House Fire

If you have ever volunteered at the shelter, chances are you know Gina.

For years, Gina has been one of the people who is always there when someone needs help. Whether it’s walking dogs, giving love to scared shelter animals, helping with transports, or driving for hours to get a dog safely to their new home, she has always stepped up without hesitation and without ever asking for anything in return.

Her kindness doesn’t stop at the shelter. Gina is the type of person who is always helping others, always giving back, and always putting the needs of those around her before her own.

Last night, Gina and her husband Gordon experienced a devastating house fire that changed their lives in an instant.

While they are incredibly grateful that neither of them was injured and that they were able to save their four rescue dogs, they suffered unimaginable losses. Their beloved cat, Tooey, did not survive the fire.

The damage to their home is catastrophic. Their kitchen, living room, dining room, and much of the house were destroyed by the fire. Areas that were not touched by flames have been severely damaged by smoke and water. They also lost both of their vehicles and nearly all of their belongings.

In a matter of hours, they lost the home they knew, their transportation, their possessions, and the sense of security that so many of us take for granted.

Right now, they are staying with a kind neighbor while they begin the overwhelming process of navigating insurance claims and figuring out how to rebuild their lives. But the reality is that they need immediate help. They have no transportation, no permanent place to stay, no way to cook, and countless unexpected expenses ahead of them.

Today, I am asking our community to come together for Gina the same way she has always shown up for others.

Any donation, no matter the amount, will help provide essential needs, temporary housing, transportation, food, clothing, pet care, and other expenses as they work toward recovery.
