Meet Miss Gigi — a spirited, loving, and energetic three-legged pup who has already overcome so much in her young life. At just 3–4 months old, Gigi was tragically ejected from a moving vehicle, resulting in a completely shattered shoulder socket. Her front leg had to be amputated, but that didn’t stop her. A few days after her surgery, my family met her at the shelter, instantly fell in love, and brought her home.
For the past three years, Gigi has embraced life to the fullest, running, playing, and bringing joy to everyone she meets. Unfortunately, her adventurous spirit has now taken a toll on her remaining limbs. Both of her hind legs have suffered torn cranial cruciate ligaments (CCLs) — the dog equivalent of a human ACL tear. Additionally has torn meniscus in each knee.
On August 6th, Gigi had to be rushed to the emergency vet after crying out in pain and being unable to move. A sedated X-ray the next day revealed not only the torn ligaments, but also an old fracture in her femoral head — likely a result of her initial trauma as a puppy — as well as significant hip dysplasia.
Since Gigi only has one front leg, our current goal is to give her at least one strong and stable back leg to support her mobility. She is scheduled to undergo a TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) surgery on her back left leg, which has been chosen to give her the best chance at stability and recovery. Surgery is set for Aug. 20th.
We are raising funds to cover the cost of her surgery, post-op care, recovery supplies, and physical therapy to help her regain strength and mobility. Gigi has the heart of a fighter and the sweetest soul — she deserves every chance to walk, play, and thrive again.
Thank you for considering helping Gigi on her journey to walk again. Any support means the world to us.
