This GoFundMe is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. It is with a heavy heart that I tell you the MS has gotten bad enough that I cannot feel the pedals in the car anymore so I can no longer drive myself to work to provide for my little family of three and our menagerie. As many of you know, I am a criminal defense attorney for the indigent in Washington, D.C. and I consider this mission-driven civil rights work. It’s both the support for our family and a mission and I can’t do it without YOU. The Courts are moving back to in person for most things on October 3rd, so it is time sensitive that I get up and running as soon as possible.

There is a fix: hand controls. The process for all that entails costs around $10,150. Breakdown: $650 to be evaluated, $1500-$2000 to be trained to use the hand controls, and up to $7500 to modify the vehicle. The companies I’d be working with are Brant’s Driving School in Annapolis, MD for the evaluation and training and MobilityWorks in Laurel, MD for the modifications to my car. I have tried to go through our state’s voc rehab agency but their wait list is 3-5 YEARS long. I simply cannot wait 3-5 years to go back to work.
