Help Fund Zainab's Graduate Education Journey

Hello, I trust this message finds you well. My name is Zainab Aderinwale, and today, I reach out to you with unwavering determination and hope. I am seeking assistance to cover the tuition for my graduate studies.

In 2022, I embarked on a journey from Lagos, Nigeria, to Boston, MA, with a burning desire to expand my knowledge and make a positive contribution to society by pursuing a master's degree at Tufts University.

Initially, I secured a 75% scholarship from Tufts, and I was responsible for covering the remaining 25%. However, my sponsor, who had been supporting me, faced a severe financial crisis due to a battle with cancer. Tragically, he passed away five months later, leaving me in a precarious financial situation. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't secure federal financial aid or student loans due to my status.

At one point, I faced the risk of losing my student visa due to unpaid tuition, which led me to transfer to a Community College to keep my visa active. Thanks to the generous support of a Muslim organization, I received $12,484.02, enabling me to clear the overdue payment that had been preventing me from registering for the next semester. This support reignited my hopes and ambitions.

I plan to return to Tufts University in the spring of 2024 to complete my studies, with a remaining tuition balance of $10,000 to be paid by January. Additionally, I require $5,824.00 for this semester at the Community College to maintain my visa status before transferring to Tufts in January, Inshallah, with $3,000 textbooks and materials expenses at graduate school amounting to a total of $18,824.02.

Being the first in my family to enroll in college, I carry a profound responsibility not to let my family down at this crucial juncture in my educational journey. My family in Nigeria lives in poverty, with my father earning less than $500 per year. My sponsor had been financing my studies since my undergraduate years in Nigeria before bringing me to pursue my master's degree, with plans for a Ph.D. thereafter, which Ph.D offers a full tuition scholarship and a monthly stipend for living expenses.

By pursuing higher education, I aim to break the cycle of poverty that has burdened my family for years. I am a determined, outgoing, and optimistic young woman whose ultimate goal is to earn a doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
