For as long as I could remember I've had to work hard for everything I’ve ever wanted. As soon as I was of working age, I held 3 jobs to sustain myself and help out my family, all while maintaining an honors average within school.

However, in my high school graduating year, I was disappointed to find out that I was not accepted to my first choice of this prestige law program co-joined with completing my undergraduate years at Laurier University and my Law school years in England at Sussex University.

This moment was definitely extremely devastating for me because I’ve always wanted to be a lawyer for as long as I could remember and realizing that I wasn’t accepted into the full program simply felt like my dreams were being ripped away from me. But instead of giving up I still proceeded to enter the school for the same undergraduate program in hopes of being accepted after my first year.

I worked extremely hard my first year in my studies while working 2 jobs on the side and it ended up paying off in the end. After the end of the year, I reapplied to the program and was accepted! I was so elated, that not only would I be able to attend law school, but also attend one overseas.

I thought this would be the end of my issues, and had planned to continue working multiple jobs and picking up side opportunities in order to begin saving for my tuition. However, this is when Covid-19 came into play along with other familial issues that flipped our lives upside down. Familial deaths, and debts sprung up on us all all at once. Moreover, sadly I have not been approved by financial institutions to receive a LOC and that was really when I realized I was at a loss.

I am now at the point where It is time for me to proceed in my school career however I lack the funds… I’m really trying to do the best I can and achieve this dream not only for myself but also to help my family. I plan to break this horrible cycle of not having enough in our lives and I plan to help us do better. Once I can help us, I can then also help my community as well.

I don’t think anyone should have to barely get by and not be able to strive for a better life simply because of lack of funds. And normally, I wouldn’t ask or put any information out there but I really do need help.
