As you know Lombok has been hit by heavy earthquakes. The earthquake on Sunday, August 5th, was 7.0 on the Richter scale and did a lot of damage. The villages in the North of Lombok near the epicenter have been hit especially hard. The death toll to date is 359 and may go higher still. Thousands are wounded and an estimated 250,000 people are without homes.
There is an urgent need for water, water filters, milk for babies, generators, rice, painkillers, tents, tarpaulins, blankets, etc.
My name is Roy Tan. I am a Jakarta International School Alumnus and a frequent visitor of Lombok. My good friend, Hicham Rhezouani, who lives and works in Kuta, Lombok, and is part owner of KRNK restaurant in Kuta, is, together with his friends, providing aid to the people in the North of Lombok. I started the gofundme page to help Hicham help the victims of the earthquake in Lombok.
Hicham and his team need to raise more funds. The need for help is both short-term, in the form of the items described above, but also the longer term to help rebuild people's homes, especially with the rainy season coming. Hicham is assessing what is needed most and where and will use the funds accordingly. He will provide reports of how the funds are ultimately used.
Please help the wonderful people of Lombok in this time of need, and help them to rebuild their lives.
This page has been set up to make it easy for people to donate money, especially our friends in the U.S. As Indonesia is not a Gofundme supported country we will withdraw the funds in the US to Engeline Tan's Bank Account and she will wire it over to Hicham in Lombok. Engeline is my sister.
