First I want to thank you for taking the time to read this.  My Niece Antoinette and her husband Doug were the victims of a horrific head on car collision in Costa Rica.  The injuries they sustained that night resulted in 3 different hospital stays, multiple surgeries for each of them and ongoing care, it will change their lives forever.  Here is their story as told by Doug:

On September 6, 2018 at 5:30PM my wife Antoinette and I were traveling toward the town of Uvita to meet up with friends.  It had just rained by Plya Hermosa and we were admiring a huge rainbow.  We drove under the rainbow and continued straight approaching a left curve.  There were no cars in sight as we approached the curve.  The way the jungle foliage is no one can see any oncoming traffic so soon as we entered the left curve we saw the truck in our lane and we were hit head on, with no time to react.  The truck was totally out of control and hydroplaning.  I remember the truck tail was scue to the left.  The only way the guy could get in that position is to have lost control further back in the curve as he was going straight and not following the curve of the road.

My wife Antoinette underwent emergency surgery for a lacerated spleen, colon, and pierced lung.  She suffered internal bleeding, fractured ribs, fractured vertebrae and broke her elbow and foot.  I received a broken and shattered right femur, ankle, heal of the foot and left collarbone, cracked sternum, blood spots in my chest and an open wound under my right knee cap that developed an infection, that kept me in the hospital a month before I could receive my operation.

The truck who hit us belongs to a company and they refuse to pay any medical bills and we are forced to go after the company to try and recover our losses as they continue to rise.







Any amount of donation is appreciated and will assist with the hospital bills and ongoing care that they both will need for some time.  With Antoinette and Doug living out of the country, my sister Mary is the acting beneficiary and  will transfer all collected donations to Antoinette and Doug.
