Help Flynn Pay Legal Fees

Hi, my name is Angel, and I've started this GoFundMe campaign to help Flynn Ferguson, one of my oldest friends in the world, through a really emotionally and financially straining time.

 

Many of you know Flynn as one of Staten Island's most community-minded and civically engaged individuals, making sure that her professional life and personal life are filled with purpose, both driven by the central mission to make a positive impact on the world around her, starting at a very local level.  Flynn has lent her skills and talents to countless institutions on Staten Island, from the Greenbelt Conservancy to Project Hospitality, always finding creative ways to strengthen their own missions, secure funding, and engage with the public!

 

Flynn is also well-known as what many would call a "Super Mom," investing an incredible amount of her own time into ensuring that her son Liam is afforded every opportunity to become a meaningful member of his community as well.  Flynn has been the president of the PTA, maintains the school garden, partners with local organizations to beautify the grounds, built little free libraries- and that's just at Liam's school!

 

Flynn also prioritizes Liam's social and emotional learning above all else by supporting him through his Cub Scouts troop to make positive impacts on the community, by encouraging his connection to their church community, by enrolling him in various sports activities, and visiting museums, galleries, parks, and places of historical significance.  With all of these extracurricular activities, it is easy to see that Liam is already a very well-rounded and conscientious citizen who will grow up to have the same kind of impact that his mother has.

 

I often find myself saying, "How does she do it all?"  And I've heard others reflect the same sentiment.  The secret to her success is that it's not a chore for her to be a good person and to raise Liam to be the same.  Flynn's kindness and altruism is eternal, and she admits that Liam is her greatest gift in life, one that is a joy for her to nurture, to love, and to watch grow.  It is not overstating the truth to say that Flynn has done all of this without anyone's support, and on only one income.  She has intentionally hand-crafted this fulfilling life for Liam as a single parent, and her achievements have been remarkable thus far.  She has modeled healthy behaviors for Liam and continues to teach him how to be a pillar of community.  

 

Until recently, Liam's father, who lives in Australia, has been largely out of the picture by distance and by choice, and has gone on to start another family there.  Instead of allowing everyone's lives to continue to blossom naturally in their own directions, he has of late decided to suddenly create a toxic environment full of unrealistic demands on Flynn and Liam's daily lives, without having done the bare minimum to contribute to the lives they have created.

 

This immense disruption has manifested in an onslaught of legal proceedings throughout the pandemic which, having enlisted the help of an excellent attorney to represent she and Liam's best interests, has at this point become a financial burden on Flynn.  She has managed the fees on her own until now, keeping her troubles and concerns to herself, and quietly making progress in the courts toward justice in this parental struggle. 

However, the next couple of months worth of fees are just beyond her reach, given her single income, the strain of the past year's legal fees, the pandemic, and the approaching holidays.

 

Flynn has done so much to help so many people, truly living the Boy Scouts' motto of leaving a place better than you found it, and it's our turn to do something special for her.  She doesn't like to ask for help and just about never does.  That's why I'm asking!  Please join me in celebrating Flynn's birthday by chipping in a little (or a lot) to help cover the final 2 months of attorney fees so that their holiday season can be full of warmth and happiness, looking forward to the new year and a resolution to this painful chapter in their lives.
