Help Spud get nose surgery

Thanks to all of you who have encouraged us to start a GoFundMe to help Spud get the reconstructive surgery on his nose & care that he needs to get back on his feet

Spud’s Story: Spud is a 3-year-old street dog from Tijuana, Mexico that was found emaciated and in poor shape. The vet took a look at his nose and believes that while he was digging in someone’s trash looking for food, as many stray dogs do to survive, someone hit him in the face with a metal rod and bashed his nose in, breaking multiple teeth and leaving him struggling to breathe. Despite this, he is a total lovebug, and warms to anyone, melting into their arms when they show him affection. He was brought into our foster care as our 46th foster on Jan 20, 2026, and within a week of rescue, he had gone viral on social media with aunties and uncles all across the globe rooting for him, after falling in love with his sweet story.

Issues Spud needs medical care for:
  • Bashed in nose (reconstructive surgery, likely $2,000+ USD)
  • Severely underweight (working on this!)
  • Fleas & Ticks (handled)
  • Worms (handled)
  • Pull his broken teeth
  • Cleaning - severe plaque on teeth
  • Mange (handled)
  • Bites on ears & head (handled)
  • Anaplasma (handled - tick-borne disease - on 30 day treatment)
  • Erlicchia (handled - tick-borne disease - on 25 day treatment)
  • Still perfect <3

Update 1/25/26: Spud is meeting with a reconstructive surgeon the week hopefully the first week of February and then we will have more information on when he can have surgery and what that will look like. He is in foster care in San Diego, and we are treating him in Tijuana, Mexico (1 hour south) so that your donations go 50% further than they would in San Diego.

Update 1/30/26 - Thanks to 80 of you incredible people all over the world who have donated, we are 92% to our big goal of $3,500!! I can't tell you how grateful we are! Spud's nose is healing, but it has healed shut, so his nose airway is the literal size of a pin hole. I know he is going to feel sooo much better once we get his reconstructive surgery for his nose to open those airways. Thank you so much to all who love him and have made this possible - more updates coming!

Update 2/13/26 - thanks to all of you incredible people all over the world, we should have plenty to get Spud his nose surgery & give him the extended care he will need to get back on his feet. I set the goal at $3,500 and GoFundMe automatically ups it, so I want you to know that all of your additional funds will go straight to his care and helping other dogs get the care they need.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • 100% of funds will go directly to Spud’s care, with the main focus on his nose reconstructive surgery.
