Help Ethel Lewis Go Home
Donazione protetta
On October 4th, 2021, my Mother Ethel Lewis suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital, where it was determined that she has total paralysis on her left side. We just celebrated her 91st birthday in July and she was her strong, independent self, so this has come as a complete surprise to all. As it stands at this time, her home is not up to the standards of living necessary for her to go back. There are many things that need to be repaired or upgraded in order us to bring her home from rehab.
The things we need to do immediately are:
The carpet must be removed and replaced with a wheelchair-friendly surface,
The excess furniture must be removed to accommodate mobility of a wheelchair
The main electrical conduit must be repaired (exact reason for malfunction is unclear at this time)
The hallway to and from the bathroom may require widening to accommodate the wheelchair
A wheelchair ramp must be added to accommodate wheelchair access.
These are the immediate concerns, that we know of, I am sure that more will come up as we learn to live with these new challenges. Mom is being sent home on October 22, which is much sooner than we were told a couple of days ago.
Please help with anything you can. Thank you
