In March 2023, our friend Drew suffered a life-changing cerebral hemorrhage. With incredible determination—and months of rehab—he relearned how to walk. But his recovery journey is far from over. Drew continues to face major challenges with speech due to aphasia, and the right side of his body remains significantly affected. He cannot write, pick up a glass, or raise his arm above his shoulder.

Despite these obstacles, Drew’s spirit remains strong. He is warm, caring, deeply loyal, and truly loved by more people than we can count. If you know Drew, you know how much he has poured into his friendships, his family, and his community.

Drew is also a proud United States Air Force veteran who leveraged the leadership he learned. Drew spent 20 years of his career with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK moving company before it was cut short by his stroke. In that time, Drew was always focused on moving people forward. He mentored and developed countless employees in an effort to help them grow personally and professionally. This treatment could potentially give him the ability to get back to doing what he loves.

He loved serving alongside his teammates, enjoying his service with the Boys and Girls Club of America, and he would give anything to be able to get back to the work and purpose he once had.

Why We’re Raising Funds

Drew has the opportunity to pursue an investigational treatment that has shown promising results for some stroke survivors. The treatment involves a targeted injection of Etanercept, administered using a specialized technique developed by a leading investigator.

While the treatment is not FDA-approved specifically for stroke and is therefore not covered by insurance, published case reports and preliminary studies have described improvements in speech, mobility, and cognitive clarity in certain patients.
