First and most importantly—THANK YOU. Your prayers, kind words, and support mean the world to me and my family. I can’t tell you how much it has lifted us up during this overwhelming time.

On Tuesday 9/23, my dad was working on a roof when it suddenly began to rain. Before he could get down, he slipped on the slick metal and fell. It was a terrible fall, and when help reached him, he was unresponsive. He was rushed by ambulance to the hospital, where we learned he had sustained serious injuries.

Dad has a severe concussion, deep cuts and swelling on one side of his face, multiple fractures in his pelvis that required surgery, and damage to his left arm, which they believe may be due to nerve injury. The doctors also believe he may have suffered a stroke, and they are continuing to run tests to determine if, when, and how severe it may have been. The surgery went well, but his recovery will be long and difficult.

On Saturday, for the very first time, he was able to stand briefly—about 10 seconds—before having to lay back down. On Sunday, we were able to move him into a chair. These are small steps, but they are steps forward, and for that we are grateful.

As many of you know, my dad is always the one helping others. He gives his time, his skills, and his heart to anyone who needs it. Now, he won’t be able to work or lend a hand for a long time—and this is when we, his family and friends, need to step up for him. He’ll probably be upset with me for saying this, but a few of us are putting together fundraisers to help with his recovery. I would be so grateful if you could keep an eye out for them and support however you can.

We also kindly ask that everyone give Dad some space as he begins this journey. His recovery will be tough, both physically and mentally, and he needs time and peace to heal without feeling overwhelmed.
