We’re raising funds for Chokri, a proud American, a loving father, and a hardworking immigrant who was recently the victim of a devastating scam.

On Saturday, December 13th, Chokri went to the store after receiving his monthly EBT payment of nearly $900.

He filled his cart with everything his kids needed: milk, food, groceries…ready to go home and prepare dinner.

But at the register, his card was declined.

Confused and embarrassed, he had to leave everything behind and step aside as the line grew behind him.

Later, he checked his phone and saw the damage: someone had used his EBT card at a Walmart to make two fraudulent purchases , one for $0,001 at target to see if there’s any funds and another for almost $850 at Walmart, wiping out almost every dollar.

Since then, Chokri has been left with just under $25 to feed his family.

For days now, they’ve been surviving off whatever’s left in the cupboards.

Gas is too expensive, so he takes the bus to run errands.

He’s doing his best to protect his kids from feeling the weight of it all, but the truth is, they’re running out of food, fast.

This shouldn’t happen to anyone, especially not to someone like Chokri, who has always given more than he has.

We’re hoping to raise $3,000 to help him cover food, bills, and basic needs through the holidays.
