Support Chioma’s Journey to Honor Her Mother in Nigeria

Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the devastating news of my mother, Margaret Ngozi Ozuzu’s, passing. As her daughter, I am struggling to navigate the grief of losing her, but I am determined to honor her memory in the way she truly deserves—by laying her to rest in her homeland of Nigeria

My mother was a woman of extraordinary strength, kindness, and grace. She touched the lives of so many, not just within our family but also in the Maplewood/South Orange community, the Oru Owere Nigerian community, and among her peers in the nursing profession. She was a devoted mother to my six siblings and me, and her spirit of love and resilience will forever guide us.

Why I Need Your Help

I’m reaching out for support to raise $6,000 to cover the costs of traveling to Nigeria, where I will ensure my mother is given a farewell that honors her life and legacy. This journey will also give me the opportunity to be with my family for an extended period as we grieve and celebrate the life of an incredible woman.

Here’s what the funds will cover:
Cost Breakdown:

Round-Trip Airfare: From New York City to Lagos, Nigeria ($3,000)
Accommodation: During my month-long stay to handle funeral arrangements ($1,000)
Transportation in Nigeria: To attend the various traditional ceremonies and gatherings ($300)
Traditional Fabrics and Memorial Items: Essential to honoring my mother in line with our customs ($500)
Miscellaneous Expenses: Any unforeseen costs that may arise during this time ($200)

Why This Matters

This isn’t just a trip; it’s a final act of love and respect for my mother. She gave so much to our family and her community, and it’s now my responsibility to ensure that her life is honored in the way she deserves. This is not just about a funeral; it’s about preserving her legacy and the traditions that were so important to her.

How You Can Help

Any contribution you can make, big or small, will bring me closer to being able to say my final goodbye to my mother in Nigeria. For those who are able to donate $250 or more, I would like to offer a token of gratitude in the form of a photography session with me. It’s a small way for me to give back and express my appreciation for your kindness.

If you aren’t able to donate, sharing this campaign with others can help just as much. Your support, in any form, means more to me than words can express during this difficult time.

Thank you for your love, and generosity, and for standing by my family as we honor my mother’s life.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Chioma Ozuzu
