My amazing friend’s daughter is fighting for her life against an aggressive form of cancer. Please help us raise the money needed for urgent bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy and complex surgery.
Here is her story:
My name is Chinenye Umeche and this is my two-year old daughter, Chimdindu Umeche, who was diagnosed with a childhood cancer - Neuroblastoma, in October 2020. At about 1 year after she was born, we noticed her stomach appeared big in comparison to her overall size. Several hospital visits had the doctors insisting that there was no problem.
Then on one fateful day, we randomly noticed a mass in her abdomen and immediately took her to the hospital and after series of tests, the paediatric oncologists confirmed that my little girl has cancer. The tumour had encased the abdominal aorta, inferior vena cava and the renal artery. These are major blood vessels responsible for blood exchange with the heart. It was also resting on her spine. This is a very dangerous position and makes the treatment more complicated. We started chemotherapy almost immediately with the hope that the tumor would shrink away from these vessels so that a surgery can be done to remove what was left of the tumour.
After six painful courses of chemotherapy, MRI scans show that the tumor is yet to shrink away. Her doctors now agree that our best option would be to do an autologous bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy and then surgery. Unfortunately, my home country does not have the facilities to manage this process and we are now faced with the option of treating her abroad. We don't have the money needed to treat her and so we ask that you please kindly donate to save my baby Chimdindu.
My baby is a cheerful little girl who brings nothing but joy to my family. I look at her and see a fighter and a survivor. Although she has lost her hair due to chemo, she is still the most adorable angel. I can't imagine life without her and I wake up every day fearing the worst. This cancer is threatening to take away my baby's chance at life and I can't bear to see her in pain. Please help me give my baby a chance at living.
