Help Chelsea Publish her debut novel Rune

Hello! My name is Chelsea Day Chevalier and I'm excited to debut my first full-length queer YA Fantasy novel, Rune: Rebel Bloodlines.

This book started as an obscure idea about 12 years ago (to the date actually) and was completed during NANOWRIMO in 2015 and 2016. It has won awards, including first place in the YA unpublished Fantasy Novel category at OWFI and second place in the SMIAH first chapter contest. I've been sitting on it ever since, because imposter syndrome is a real beast and being an author has always been my greatest dream.

I've made the decision to Indie publish, so I can have more creative control over my work and to be able to reach audiences in a different, more intimate way.

Some of you may be asking: why not do a preorder on Amazon, or a Kickstarter campaign instead of a GoFund Me?

There are some rapid expenses due now to make the book the best it can be that need to be paid before the book’s release, such as copy editing and book cover art. I plan to host a Kickstarter in the future but anyone that donates now will get extra rewards because you’re helping me with the beginnings of my dream.

All that to say, this is an exciting journey for me and I would love for you to join me while we embark on this new creative terrain. I plan on sending updates about the book's progress (cover art sharing, character illustrations, etc.) and even sharing some chapters and side stories throughout this process to generate excitement and to share in the community experience, which is most important to me. It’s why I write stories.

Art is always necessary, but especially right now when times seem dismal and overwhelming. Art and the stories they tell are what will save our society and I'm proud to be a part of it.
