Help Charlie's Journey to Health and Home

Story

Hello everyone! My name is Amanda and I am blessed to be Charlie’s aunt. With permission from my sister-in-law, I have felt called to make a Go-Fund-Me for my precious nephew and his family as they navigate a trying journey of bringing their baby boy home. Charlie was born with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) which is a hole in his diaphragm that causes organs to move into the chest cavity and decreases lung capacity. Due to this, Charlie has already endured so much from being placed on ECMO (life support), a hernia repair, sedation, pain medication, and spending over 100 days in Children’s Mercy’s NICU. He has yet to come home since he was born. His airway continues to close at times causing his oxygen levels to lower- therefore Charlie is a candidate to have yet another surgery to help keep his airway open. Because of this, Charlie’s care will have to be transferred to Florida. We are so thankful he qualifies for this procedure, but are unsure of what this timeline will look like such as: how long Charlie and his parents will be in Florida, the impact this will have on their jobs, and finances. Through this Go-Fund-Me more awareness for CDH can be spread and money can be raised to assist in expenses for Charlie, his care, and allow his parents to be able to support him in Florida. Leaving their home and support system goes to show what great lengths parents go to get the best care for their child and the endless love that they have for their baby. Thank you for reading just a small portion of their story. Any donations are beyond appreciated and all proceeds will go directly to Charlie and his parents.
