You can help a hard-working team of young volunteers complete their year of service, originally funded through AmeriCorps NCCC but tragically cut short due to sweeping federal budget cuts.
My name is Anna, I was the leader of Team Blue 2 of the NCCC Pacific Region Class 31A up until last week when we got the abrupt call that DOGE had shut down NCCC. We had to leave our project sites, pack our bags, and get on a plane within 24 hours.
My team is energetic, strong, motivated, and not one to give up. We are all committed to completing our year of service and seeing through the projects initially assigned to NCCC.
My team was originally scheduled to work on trails in Idaho before the program was defunded. In order to fulfill our calling to service we reached out to other projects in the region with the supplies to host a team of ten volunteers. We gained support from another non-profit where the team will be supporting environmental education programs, open houses, workshops, and conferences on land stewardship.
Our goal is to be in Oregon by the start of May and use our gifts to support the local communities in rural Oregon.
For those who don't know, NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) was a federally funded, full-time, residential service program for young people ages 18-26. Teams of 8-12 partnered with non-profit organizations across the country, doing disaster relief, conservation work, hunger relief, and more. It is a 10-month commitment where teams travel and live together, creating a unique and memorable service community and family.
In order to get our team to the project in Oregon, we are asking for:
$2,000 for vehicle expenses and $9,000 for personal expenses, travel, and medical costs. We are thankful that the nonprofit in Oregon has provided us with food and housing for the duration of the service work.
This is a time in which we can't rely on previous systems to help our communities, we must take it upon ourselves and support one another. This is a call to action. An opportunity for you to help fund necessary work that we all see value in.
Any funds received above the donation goal will be distributed to other former NCCC teams and the non-profits we are partnering with.
We can't give up just because they shut us down.
This is your opportunity, send your support now!
