Many don’t know that in the past 20 years, I’ve lived silently with a rare congenital anomaly named “Bertolotti Syndrome”, affecting less than 7% of the population.

This disorder causes bone-to -bone contact of an “extra bone” at the last vertebrae of the spine with the sacrum, resulting in chronic lower back pain.

As a last resort, I had a life-changing fusion surgery this year. Being “on the other side”, I know how it felt for me these past 20 years and wish I knew certain things before. I am in a better place now to provide help, insights and to make a change for my fellow Bertolotti Warriors who didn’t get their answers and solutions yet.

Based on my thoughts and views, each person has at least one person in their lives, a family member, dear friend, acquaintance, or yourself, that has an impairment, condition or hidden pain, either mentally emotionally and/or physically. However, the situation shouldn’t be getting worse for one to step in and offer help.

I have also set an initial goal to raise $10000 that I will distribute amongst those suffering from Bertolotti Syndrome and opting for surgery.

I want to aim high and help as many Bertolotti peers as possible. For the next phase, I will find other ways to collect funds, e.g. through grants. Distribution will start as soon as it hits initial target so that we can make key impacts on numerous lives. My ultimate wish and devotion is to grow this and increase the funds with higher targets to help a significant number of Bertolotti peers.
