If you know New Orleans culture, you know Carol “Baby Doll Kit” Harris.
In 2015, Kit founded the N’awlins D’awlins Baby Dolls, carrying forward one of our city’s most beautiful traditions. But long before that, she was already a cornerstone of our community — mentoring new Baby Dolls, advising cultural organizations, and bringing people together through events like the Blessing of the Streets and the Juneteenth Baby Doll Celebration.
Kit’s love for her city and her people runs deep. She has given her time, energy, and even her own money to keep our traditions alive and thriving. She’s a unifier, a mentor, and a living symbol of what makes New Orleans culture so special.
Now, it’s our turn to give back to her.
During the 20th anniversary memorial events for Hurricane Katrina, Kit suffered a serious fall on one of New Orleans’ uneven sidewalks. The injury required surgery and an extended hospital stay. While her recovery is going well, healing takes time — and time away from work means financial strain.
Even while recovering, Kit’s heart is still focused on our culture. She continues to plan, dream, and encourage others — but right now, she needs our help to cover her basic household expenses so she can rest, recover, and return stronger than ever.
We’re asking our community to come together for someone who has always been there for us. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in helping Kit focus on healing without the added worry of financial hardship.
Let’s show Kit the same love, strength, and unity she’s always shared with us.
Please give what you can and share this page to spread the word.
Together, we can help Baby Doll Kit heal — and remind her that her community is right here dancing beside her.
