Help Avion Dent and his family.

Avion Dent holds a special place in the hearts of many.

Avion became ill a few weeks ago. Avion's mom (Erikka) brought him to 2 different hospitals (Mercy and Unity), they were sent home both times without any answers. Avion got worse, she took him to HCMC where Avion had an emergency appendectomy. He had complications and ended up in the ICU for a few days. Avion went back home but continued to get even sicker. Last week Erikka brought him to Fairview Children's, where they realized something was seriously wrong, he was rushed into emergency exploratory surgery. Avion had complications after surgery, was not able to breathe on his own and was put on a ventilator for two days. He has been diagnosed with (HLH) hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, a rare immune disease. This disease has been attacking Avion's organs. Avion has been off the ventilator for a few days but is still in the ICU for at least three more days before he moves to a room on a different floor. The doctors are encouraged by his progress, but he has a long road ahead.

Erikka has shared that this presents many challenges as you can imagine. The funds donated will go directly to Erikka to help ease the burden as she juggles caring for Avion and his three younger siblings (including a 3 month old), and expenses related to his medical care.
