Help Angela fight MSSA Staph Infection

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Stephanie and I am fundraising for my mom, Angela. Angela went in for routine knee injections on 12/2/2022. On 12/2/2022 she woke up with extreme swelling of both knees, as well as extreme pain, discoloration, and increased temperature at the injection sights. Angela was rushed to the ER on the 4th, where they drew fluid from both knees to check for infection and pain management; she was released and sent home. 12/5/2022 she was rushed back to the ER due to extreme pain and being unable to bear weight; her pain was managed and she was again released. 12/7/2022 she was again, rushed back to the ER for extreme pain and swelling; at this point she was admitted into the hospital. It was discovered at this point that she had a very bad case of MSSA, which is a Staph infection. Angela was scheduled for a debridement procedure on 12/10/2022, of the left knee, to remove dead and contaminated tissues. Angela remained in the hospital until 12/12/2022, due to uncontrollable pain, inflammation, and the inability bear weight. Angela was released and sent home with orders of 12 weeks of IV antibiotics, for every eight hours, due to the severity of the infection. Angela’s pain became unbearable again, and was rushed back to the ER 12/13/2022, where it was managed and she was released. Angela has been under the care of an ortho surgeon, who she saw on 12/15/2022 and was concerned with the pain and other symptoms she was experiencing; the doctor ordered more labs to determine if the infection was increasing. Angela received news later that day that she would need to return 12/16/2022 for a second surgery, to remove more contaminated tissues and to re-test the right knee, due to bacteria numbers increasing, despite her daily IV antibiotics. Angela is awaiting results to determine if she will need a third surgery, this time on her right knee; the ortho surgeon stated she could need several more debridement surgeries, if it continues to be resistant to the antibiotics.

During this time, Angela has been unable to work, as well as my father, who has been caring for her. Angela’s employer informed her that company policy states she must work a minimum of 15 hours per week to maintain her current insurance plan; due to her inability to work, she must cover the entirety of her health insurance plan independently.

I am asking for help to cover medical expenses and bills, as there is no end in sight, and they are now struggling financially. Thank you for any contribution, big or small.
