The Hamann’s family Thanksgiving night took a heartbreaking turn when a fire severely damaged their home in Oswego. Around 3:30am, Nora, her husband Mike, their 8-month-old baby, and their 21-year-old daughter were awakened by the fire. While Nora got the kids out, Mike stayed behind trying to fight the flames until firefighters arrived.

The fire started at the back of the house and was quickly spreading inside the house.

Firefighters stretched a hose line through the front of the house to extinguish flames that had already reached the attic. A second hose line was used in the back of the house. The entire home was soaked, and because of the water damage and heavy smoke, none of their belongings, including clothing, baby items, furniture, or personal essentials can be used or salvaged.

We are beyond grateful that everyone made it out safely, but their home is now uninhabitable and will take at least a year before they can return. This has been especially difficult as they were just getting settled in for their baby’s first Christmas.

They urgently need support for clothing, baby essentials like diapers and formula, toiletries and hygiene items, food and everyday necessities, and help with temporary housing and living expenses. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will provide immediate relief and help them begin to rebuild.
