My name is Alexis, and I’m about to start my first semester at ETSU’s nursing program in Johnson City. My dream of becoming a nurse began when I was a child, after I was diagnosed with a brain cyst. Thankfully, it wasn’t harmful, but the experience of frequent MRI checkups sparked my fascination with anatomy and the medical field. That early exposure inspired me to pursue a career where I can make a real difference in people’s lives.

I recently moved to Tennessee and was thrilled to be accepted into the nursing program, with classes starting August 25th. Unfortunately, I missed the scholarship deadlines before my move, and while I’ve taken out a student loan and work at a pharmacy, there’s still a gap I can’t cover. My parents want to help, but they aren’t able to contribute enough to meet the tuition deadline on August 18th. I’m reaching out for support because I’m determined to start this journey and eventually work in labor and delivery, helping families through some of their most important moments.
