Help Ajna get the treatment she needs

Meet Ajna  
Ajna is your Average five-year-old Dutch kid, someone who loves to dress up like a princess or a superhero, a kid who loves to go to school, play with her friends, and do things every little girl of her age loves to do. A chirpy child who loves to laugh and find out the many little and big things life has to offer. But as always, life will throw a curve ball at you and you need to ask for help - especially because a child like her can't do it on her own.

Ajna started to complain lately about headaches. She's always hungry even after a meal, and she grew a lot quicker than other kids of her age. At first, we thought it was a simple hormone problem. We went to doctors, had gone through medical tests and everything else a responsible family could do to find out what the problem was. As every family out there, we never expected to receive the news we did.

We went to the doctors for the results and the results weren't good. The doctors found out that Ajna has a Hamartoma  tumor in the middle of her brain, and worst of all, the news that broke our heart was that it isn't treatable in the Netherlands. An operation to remove it would be too dangerous and could cause more damage to the brain and the radiation treatments our hospitals have to offer can’t treat it. Disheartened and at a loss for words, the Doctor gave us one hope.

A possible treatment in the United States of America. There is a specialized treatment available in the United States, specifically at St.Jude Children's Research Hospital which can help Ajna. This radiation treatment has the possibility to shrink the tumor and help her with the headaches and a reduction of the chance for it to grow again. They are still skeptical about it being able to completely remove it, but if it's going to help Ajna even a little, then it's something we're willing to do. But we can't do it alone. As it falls outside of the Netherlands, our insurance won't cover the costs of the treatment, and flying from the Netherlands to the United States and other costs won't make it easy. The family of Ajna  aren’t able to pay for it on their own. This is where your help comes in. Help us give Ajna a normal life, a normal life that every child including herself deserves. Every little bit will help her in getting the treatment she needs, a treatment which will change her life for the better, a life where she can wake up without a headache, a life where she can start playing with others kids again without being scared that she'll fall ill again.
