Help Air Force Mom beat Melanoma
Donation protected
I would not be the Airman or GT Operator I am today without the inspiration
of one person. My mother, Melissa Lewis, instilled the core values we hold
true long before I even joined the Airforce. While being a vehicle
dispatcher in the civilian sector for over a decade, she was unexpectedly
let go. She has maintained a positive attitude and excellence in all she
does amidst this difficult time. While trying to find a sense of stability,
she was diagnosed with cancer at the end of November 2022.
The challenge I am facing is offsetting her medical finances and ensuring
she can afford to survive. I have pushed myself and will continue to do so,
but I would not be the man she raised me to be if I did not exhaust all my
options. It breaks my heart that medical care or food may have to be ranked
in importance because of a lack of funds. It is not easy to ask for help,
but I have to.
She made sure I always ate before her when I was a kid, even some nights not
even eating to make sure I ate. As she is fighting, Melanoma, it has been a
constant battle of what is the next step and how to get better. Any
financial assistance on top of what I am giving will allow me to continue my
service without worrying about whether my mother has a place to live or food
to eat. Help me as she has helped others throughout her life with no gripes
or complaints.
I want to thank anyone who has helped her and me. I am also sending prayers
to those who are struggling. During difficult times, resiliency can be
tested, but show us our true strength with the struggles we face every day.
I know it will get better through time and support. Cancer is a fight many
of us fight with our loved ones; please help me win this one!
