Help a 21 year old bartender have kids someday
Donazione protetta
Hi friends! To those who don't know me, my name is Kat.I wish I didn’t have to ask for help, but unfortunately I do. I always had a bad gut feeling about my own fertility. I always just thought I was dramatic and I had those feelings just because of my own very strong feelings I have on reproduction. But I decided to get some blood work done and look into my fertility on a whim.
I’m so glad I did, because it turns out the main hormone for my ovarian reserve is in the range of someone in their late 30s already. Unfortunately, infertility cost is rarely covered by insurance. Having any health problems is already expensive enough, even on my parents insurance.
I’m hoping I’ll only have to do one or two cycles of egg freezing. This is a scary thing for anyone to go through. I’m especially scared about the financial aspect of this. Egg freezing is expensive. I’m also 21 and single, living on my own and working as a bartender/server.
The cost of one cycle of egg freezing at the specialist I’m seeing is $8250. This is not including any medications, monthly frozen egg storage fees, gas to and from surgery in Seattle, possible missed work hours, etc. Every doctor I’ve talked to has been so validating that I’m doing all the right steps, especially at such a young age. Because I’m 21, hopefully my eggs will all be healthy and viable if we freeze them now. Sooner is better than later since I will likely be menopausal in my mid to late 30s.
Women’s health care has always been inaccessible and there

are so many barriers in place to prevent women from getting real and honest information about their bodies. I’m thankful I listened to my intuition and got my blood tested before I’m older and actually trying to conceive.
This is only enough money to cover one cycle of egg freezing. Any leftover money will go towards other bills surrounding my health and other bills that could have been missed due to missing work. If I do have to complete a second cycle of egg freezing, I will be taking out a loan since you have to pay up front.
If you know me at all, you know how much I don’t like asking for help. But you also know how important being a mom someday is to me. I’d do anything right now for the chance of carrying my own baby someday.

Holding my niece, Crystal, reading books together is one of my favorite things.
