Healing for Eli
Hello friends and family! I hope this finds you well. As we all have witnessed these times have been tumultuous due to this current pandemic and the recent civil unrest. Being on the frontline, I've had the unfortunate opportunity to witness tragedy unfold with my own eyes from patients to friends and families. Majority of our lives have been flipped upside down and this new norm has definitely affected each of our lives in some way. Some particular lives that have been affected during these turbulent times is little Elijah Robinson and his family. Eli has endured bouts with an undiagnosed gastric issue for the last two of his four years of life. Eli’s mother has documented his journey on Facebook, which consisted of numerous hospital visits that provided no real solution to Eli’s issues. At such a young age, Eli has endured over 6 surgeries and undergone over 12 procedures. During the pandemic, Eli was admitted to the hospital on March 27th, just three days before his fourth birthday, during which time he had another surgery. He was discharged and on May 10th, after only two weeks, he was admitted again only to be released on May 30th and be readmitted on the 31st. Due to the pandemic, there is a one-parent mandate, thus leaving Eli to rely on the comfort of only one parent. However, through it all Eli's face is still plastered with a smile and his resilience to fight through is astonishing. Being a spectator along their journey has compelled me to take action.
The hospital teams in Memphis have been unable to find an answer to Eli’s predicament. Within the next month, the Robinson family will have to begin travel to an Ohio research hospital. As aforementioned, he’s had multiple surgeries in an attempt to correct the issue, but to no avail. Coupled with supporting Eli through his current hospital stay, the Robinson family has welcomed a new addition to their family through a cesarean delivery. These concurrent events have consumed all of Eli’s father’s paid time off (PTO) and drastically slowed Eli’s mother’s entrepreneurial endeavors. The family asks for $10,000 to cover the loss of multiple incomes and to fund the relocation and research expense they will face in Ohio. Any amount will be greatly appreciated! Lets keep a smile on Eli’s face!
