Hello World,
This GoFundMe page is set up by myself, Mahmoud Nasser, to help my trapped uncle and his family escape the war in Gaza. All the funds collected will be transferred over in full, to his Bank of Palestine account in Gaza. Below, is a text written by my uncle's oldest daughter Wafaa.
Your generosity will never be forgotten, and every dollar donated, will help my relatives find a chance at a new life.
I am Wafaa Nasser, a third-year medical student at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, and I carry with me the weight of a family that has endured profound loss and displacement. I am reaching out to you in the midst of overwhelming challenges that have disrupted the fabric of our lives in Gaza
The conflict's destruction has suddenly halted my pursuit of a dream in obtaining a medical degree, forcing me and many others into a state of eternal uncertainty.
As the conflict persists into its fifth month, the devastation continues, hindering our ability to access the education and peace of mind we desperately crave.
The destruction caused by the conflict has not only disrupted my education but has also left my family grappling with the harsh realities of life in a war-torn region.
Consisting of ten members, we have endured the loss of loved ones, displacement, and the constant struggle to find shelter.
My family members in total are 10, currently displaced from our home in the Northern town of Beit Hanoun, to a tent in Southern Rafah:
- My father Hassan - 49
- My mother Noor - 43
- My brothers - Abedelrahman (22), Mahmoud (17), Zaki (15), and Nidal (7).
- My sisters including myself - Wafaa (me, 20), Amna (19), Lina (14).
- Amna's wounded husband, Imad (25).
Displacement has become the norm in our lives, as my family has been displaced more than six times. The tattered tents have become our only refuge, where we live in harsh conditions and indescribable suffering.
Moreover, tragedy struck our family directly. My brother-in-law, amidst the bombing that claimed the lives of his parents and sister, survived with injuries to his head and leg. Tragically, due to the dire state of our healthcare system resulting from the conflict, he is unable to access the treatment he urgently needs for recovery.
In the face of these adversities, I remain determined to continue my medical studies, seeing it not only as a personal pursuit but as a beacon of hope for my community.
The pressing need for safety, medical care, and sustenance has led us to contemplate a journey away from Gaza. No one ever, in their own imagination, ever for a moment thought, that our lives will get to this point. To the point of leaving behind your home, your loved ones, friends, and relatives alike.
We are urgently seek your support to help us find a way travel from Gaza, escaping the ravages of war and destruction. Your assistance is pivotal in providing safety, medical care, and sustenance for my family, as well as enabling me to continue my studies abroad.
We are in need of support amounting to $69,000 US Dollar (=$93,000 Canadian Dollar), and attached are the expenses as follows:
Cost details:
Travel costs for me and my family: $60,000 - $6,000 each
Living expenses in Egypt for 5 months: $5,000
GoFundMe fees: $3,000
Bank transfer fee: $1,000
Your generosity will contribute to rebuilding shattered dreams, aiding my education, and providing much-needed medical care for my brother-in-law's recovery. Every donation, regardless of size, represents a ray of hope in our dark lives and brings us a step closer to healing and rebuilding
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and solidarity.
