Haitian Community Organization (HCO)

The City of Evanston and the Evanston Police Department have informed us that they will not be able to provide security for the Haitian Community Festival this July 4th due to conflicts with our event and the parade. This leaves us with an urgent need to hire an outside security firm to continue keeping you and other festival attendees safe. We have secured a reputable security firm and need your support to retain them early. Please donate what you can, in the following ways:

The Haitian Community Organization (HCO) exists to provide a sense of community and resource center for people of Haitian background in Evanston and nearby surrounding areas. To do so, HCO must honor and preserve the Haitian culture, educate our Haitian youth, and share the culture with all of Evanston and other nearby areas. HCO sponsors many activities to foster the above include:

1. HCO Festival

2. Kids Back to School Backpack drive

3. Educational classes

4. Health-related activities (games, sports)

5. Providing assistance to local Haitian migrant families, especially youth

6. Support/assist citizens of Haiti by raising funds to provide needed provisions and materials to help through periods of crisis.

The Haitian Community Organization (HCO) July 4th Festival has been as a gathering place for Haitians across Chicagoland to celebrate and remain connected.
