Update-This is Katie's friend, Tara.
Katie was diagnosed with a rare form of Large B-Cell Lymphoma on August 18, 2024. She began R-Epoch treatment late August, and initially responded well to treatment. Unfortunately, Katie's chemo was only temporarily successful. Since her treatment ended in February, new areas of cancer have appeared. Her latest PET scan shows new spots in her lungs, the lining of her heart, her hip, and her femur. This cancer is very aggressive and fast growing. Unfortunately, Katie has exhausted all of her leave and she has maxed out all allowable donated leave and sick bank leave. Her only options now are leave without pay or medical retirement. Katie will begin Car T-Cell Therapy soon. It is still unknown if insurance will cover the 250k price tag. The cost of treatment, along with not receiving a paycheck, is astronomical. As you can imagine, this is an extremely scary time for Katie and her family. Katie is married, her husband Anders also works for PWCS, they have 2 small children.
We are trying to spread the word and possibly get some help for Katie and her family.

I was diagnosed in August with large b cell lymphoma stage 4 and have been fighting this nasty cancer ever since. Any help you can give to me and my family is greatly appreciated. I finished my last round of chemo but I'm not in the clear yet and we still have a lot to cover since my diagnosis. Please help me and my family. The medical expenses are adding up and we're not done yet! Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Much love to everyone who can offer us help. We've never been people to ask for help but this has been very trying both financially and mentally on us all. Being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at 41 is terrifying and I'm hoping my scan at the end of this month shows that it is all gone but unfortunately there is a possibility it is not and if that happens I'm not sure what we'll do!
