Keep Women's Health Clinic Open in Guatemala
Doação protegida
Asociación Manos Abiertas -AMA- is a community health center for low income women and babies in semi rural Guatemala, Central America. Over the last 13 years we have served over 6,000 women providing them with routine GYN and prenatal care. Our main focus is slowing down family growth by providing women with access to birth control of their choice and to reduce the amount of women undergoing unecessary cesarean sections.
We are a group of 6 women, 3 lay midwives, 1 administrator, 1 student and 1 maitinance staff who stretch resources to guarantee the women of our community with access to humanized healthcare.
1 year ago we moved locations in the hope to offer better care and reach a wider community. This house serves our purposes very well and is of easy access to our clients; However, the rent is expensive and it's putting extreme financial pressure to our already depleted organization. AMA is not economically sustainable and wouldn't have been open for such a long time without the help of independent donors. Our clients live below the poverty line so our services are provided by donation according to what each family can afford [ussualy 6$ USD per consult]. The total amount we are trying to raise would go to solely cover the rent of 1 full year [12 months at USD $1200 p/m] and hopefully allow us to use our minimal funds to grow and get more donors and better paying clients.
We are deeply grateful for any donations and we are always open to visitors that want to learn more about what we do and how we have been supporting underpriviledged women and children since we opened our doors in 2008.
