LOCAL HELP FOR LOCAL PEOPLE

Offering support and friendship, Didsbury Good Neighbours is a local charity whose aim is to provide neighbourly support for older people. We do this with a volunteer befriending service, practical help and a program of social activities.

How your donations help Didsbury Good Neighbours

2023 and early 2024 saw us achieve our phase one goal of upgrading some of the furniture, enabling us to provide greater comfort for our local older community. Thanks to ANSVAR and Hine Chartered Insurance Brokers, we were able to achieve our goal with their matched funding scheme.

By donating to Didsbury Good Neighbours, you are helping to alleviate loneliness, improve mental and physical wellbeing and strive towards improving quality of life of our older community.

We are currently raising funds to address the following areas:

FURNITURE 4 THE FUTURE (Phase 2)

From May through till July, Didsbury Good Neighbours is holding monthly theatre evenings for members and volunteers to raise money towards our phase two plan of fully upgrading the remaining furniture. The events will be hosted by one of our volunteers (Steve O - Barclays employee) who has very kindly agreed to use his Barclays matched funding scheme to help us achieve our goal. During the months of May - July, those attending our fundraising events can make a donation on this portal in the hope of helping us achieve our goal of £2000 (£1000 raised with £1000 match funded). If you wish to join Steve and the DGN team for one of these events, please contact us and book your place.

THE WELLBEING VEGETABLE GARDEN

Didsbury Good Neighbours are growing their own vegetables and donating them to our community café to use in their menu. This project will be overseen by our Friendship and Memories Group and be supported by the newly formed DGN Gardening Group. The scheme is in support of Manchester City Councils Carbon Zero target.
