Global Visionaries Trip to Guatemala

Hi friends and family. As you know, I am a freshman in high school, but a 3rd-year Spanish student. I applied and was accepted to Global Visionaries – a cultural immersion and community service trip to Guatemala for two weeks in April.

I need to raise $5,000 TOTAL for the trip. My goal is to do this by the end of February. I have contributed $250 so far, and Papa Lettunich submitted a check for $500 (via auto-deposit, so not listed here). We deducted that amount here, so you can see we are very close to the GOAL!!

I look forward to meeting my host family, and we rotate work projects each day – in coffee fields, on construction projects, and visiting local hospitals. We will be learning about environmental and social justice issues, and helping raise awareness. I will also take one-on-one Spanish lessons daily.

I turn 15 at the end of March, and leave for this trip just one week later. I'm excited but also getting a little nervous. There are no phones allowed on the trip, but adult guides and chaperones will text parents a few times, with photos, while we are gone.
