Give Weiss a Fighting Chance Against Cancer

UPDATED: I'm writing to share an update on Weiss. He underwent surgery to remove four masses and had a successful recovery. During his recovery, we noticed some weight loss, but he continued to improve and was eventually cleared by the vet. After his final checkup, his stitches were removed, and he was able to take off the cone.
He returned to his normal self and was doing well until two weeks ago, when he became sick, and his appetite went down. We took him to the vet, where X-rays and blood tests revealed inflammation of the stomach lining and kidney issues. Weiss was hospitalized and received IV fluids, medication, and a change in diet, which initially seemed to help. However, on Monday the 14th, he didn't want to get up to eat and with encouragement he drank water and ate.
Sadly, Weiss passed away yesterday, April 15th.
We are heartbroken by his passing. Though he was only a part of our lives for a few years, he was an amazing dog—a gentle giant who was both protective and loving. He had so many funny quirks. He wouldn't go through a door if it wasn't fully open because in his eyes he wouldn't fit, always backed up for butt scratches. My husband would tell him to lick my elbow just by pointing at it and he would surprise me every-time. He would even stay behind to watch his buddy zonzo instead of running out the gate. Weiss lived a full life, from being a ranch dog protecting against coyotes and accused of chasing cows (allegedly) to enjoying city life with his doggie siblings. He was happy and loved, and his brother, Zonzo, stayed by his side throughout his illness until his peaceful passing. We will miss him dearly and will always cherish the time we had with him.
Thank you so much for the love and support you’ve shown us. We are grateful that we were able to make a difference in his life.

My name is Claudia, and I'm reaching out to ask for your help with 8-year-old Boxer, Weiss, who requires surgery.
Weiss's previous owner tragically passed away in a car accident, leaving him without a home. His family did not keep him, and he was briefly adopted but returned stating he was to ugly looking. My husband, knowing his previous owner from work, decided to take Weiss in a year ago.
He's the most loving and friendly dog we've ever known. Despite his size, which can sometimes intimidate people, Weiss is a true sweetheart. He loves the outdoors and is always up for a butt scratch. Weiss is full of life and has thrived in our care. In case anyone was wondering, he's been a chunky Boxer since a pup, but he's lost about 10 pounds with increased walks and activity.
A few months ago, we noticed a small mass on his paw. We took him to the vet for an examination and testing, but the results were inconclusive. The mass has grown to the size of an egg since. While the vet continued to monitor Weiss, we discovered another mass growing on the left side of his chest, which is now about 4 inches in diameter. He's currently on antibiotics and other medication to reduce its size. The vet also found two smaller masses, one on his eye and another on his neck.
Total we are looking at 4 masses : Paw, side of this Chest, Eye and neck.
The recent test results from the mass on his chest have come back positive for cancer cells. Thankfully, the cancer hasn't spread to his body yet, but we need to remove the masses to prevent it from doing so.
Unfortunately due to how fast all of this has unfolded, the severity of the procedure, and the size this will cost quite a more than we were prepared. The vet has mentioned different outcomes ranging from just a removal of the mass to having to amputate his paw. We are doing our best to try and get this surgery done as soon as possible to reduce the chances of a worse outcome.
We're asking for your help to give Weiss a fighting chance before the cancer spreads. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
We will continue to update you on Weiss's progress.
