Hi, my name is Revis Smith, though most folks know me as Susie. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help in honoring the life of my dear brother, James Dent “Bobo”.
Bobo passed away recently at the age of 77 from a heart attack after a long, battle with COPD. He was a good man — the kind of person you don’t meet often anymore. Born and raised in Braxton, Mississippi, Bobo was country through and through. He loved fishing, hunting, walking the land, and simply being outdoors. He always said he wanted to go back to “the good old country,” and in a way, I believe he’s found his peace there now.
Bobo was easygoing, always quick with a joke, and kind to everyone he met. It’s hard to find someone who didn’t like Bobo. He mostly kept to himself but had a way of making people feel welcome without saying much at all.
Though he didn’t have children of his own, he had a bond with his grandchild Caleb like no other. Their bond was unbreakable — Bobo loved Caleb like his own son.
If you knew Bobo, you probably have a funny story about him. He was a bit of a prankster. I’ll never forget the time he pulled me through a pond because I was scared of the water. I was furious at him then, but after that day, I was never afraid of water again. That was Bobo — full of mischief, but with a heart bigger than the world.
We’re now trying to raise $7,390 to cover Bobo’s funeral expenses and memorial service so we can give him the peaceful, dignified farewell he deserves. Anything you can give — big or small — would mean the world to our family.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support during this difficult time. Bobo touched a lot of lives in quiet, simple ways, and I know he’d be humbled by your love.
Rest easy, Bobo. Hope you’ve already found the best hunting grounds.
With love,
