Help get Steve back on his feet

Hello,

My name is Amy and I have set up this fundraiser for my husband, Steve. In July of this year, Steve was diagnosed with lung cancer. No one expects to receive a cancer diagnosis and we are no different. Steve is only 44 years old, a non-smoker and Dad to our two amazing girls, Mirren and Renèe. Steve has always been active and as the local plumber he is well know and loved in our community.

Due to Steve’s condition he has had to stop working and close Highland Perthshire Plumbing & Heating, he has also had to stop driving. Despite all of this, Steve is determined to overcome all the barriers he is facing and his positive attitude and motivation is incredible.

To support her Dad, Renèe is doing a sponsored bike ride to raise money for an electric bike which will give Steve means to exercise and improve his health, freedom and independence. Renee will be doing 100 laps of the school playground track on her bike on the 1st November and any donations are greatly appreciated.

While Steve’s condition is not curable, it is treatable, his lung cancer is ALK positive which means he can receive a targeted treatment and so far he is responding well. ALK lung cancer predominantly affects young non-smokers, yet lung cancer is one of the least funded cancers for research. Any additional funds raised will be donated to ALK UK who have been a source of support and continue to drive forward research.
